Profile
Pink Grapefruit is a hybrid of a red grapefruit and white grapefruit. It is grown on a bushy tree with shiny green, dense leaves and short thorns on the branches. Citrus paradisi bears large white fragrant flowers, as well large lemonish-yellow fruit, tinged with hues of pink/red. On average it is about 20 ft in height. From cultivation and crossings of the original variety of pale yellow skinned and lighter, white-yellow fleshed fruit, a “Ruby Red” fruit of the “red bush variety, received the first ever grapefruit patent in the US. The fruit peel is cold pressed to distil the Pink Grapefruit Essential Oil. The color of the oil is yellowish to greenish yellow. It has the characteristic aroma of Grapefruit, fresh, crisp, and citrus like.
Although there is not much difference between white and pink grapefruit essential oil, more of the slightly sweeter pink grapefruit oil is produced, largely due to supply and demand. The differences between the White and Pink Grapefruit are minor. There is more pink grapefruit produced because it is sweeter than the white variety.
FACT: Captain Phillip Shaddock, a 17th Century East India Company trade merchant brought citrus seeds to the West Indies to grow and develop. By the mid-19th Century, seeds were sown in Florida. The ‘Pink’ Grapefruit was cultivated by the early 20th Century.
NOTE: Citrus Oils in their pure state, may appear cloudy or contain small particles of wax. This occurs naturally in the oil and becomes most apparent when stored in cold areas. It is recommended, however, that these oils be stored in a cool place to ensure longevity and quality. If the clarity is a concern, you may wish to filter until clear, however once cooled again the cloudy appearance may return. The clarity may improve through storing the oil at room temperature, but this will reduce the shelf life and is not recommended.

AUROMA QUALITY
AUROMA Essential Oils are the highest quality essential oils available in the world today. Each oil is from an individual farmer and from a particular year’s harvest. As AUROMA knows each of the Farmers, they guarantee the authenticity of each oil. Just to be certain, they analyze each oil using the latest state-of-the-art GC-MS technology, which can detect impurities to one part per billion. Yes! AUROMA represents the best there is in Essential Oils. We can supply the following documentation: Certificates of Analysis and Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
To meet the stringent demands of the professional aromatherapist, AUROMA has drafted the following seven requirements that an essential oil needs to meet so it can be used with confidence:
- BIO-TYPE: Not only does an oil have to come from a defined botanical species, but from a particular genetic strain.
- CHEMO-TYPE: The same botanical species can often produce completely different constituents.
- GEO-TYPE: Oils from a particular area are often of superior quality. Examples are Rose Oil Bulgarian or Sandalwood East Indian.
- COMPLETE OR WHOLE: The oil should come from a single distillation and should not be rectified.
- WILD OR ORGANIC: Where possible, AUROMA always selects the wild growing plants for distillation. When wild types are not available, AUROMA commissions farmers who do not use pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Certified Organic options are available.
- EX STILL: AUROMA distills small lots of expensive oils in-house and advises farmers on distillation methods.
- ANALYYSIS: Oils are tested by AUROMA in Australia with the most advanced state-of- the-art equipment in the world.
