Profile

Citrus reticulata var tangerine is a beautiful evergreen tree, with deep green vegetation that produces fruit in the winter. Tangerine has the same botanical name as Mandarin. It is a variant of the Mandarin and the Orange, with a rich deep Red-Orange color, producing a thin-skinned fruit, easy to peel and pull apart like a Mandarin, and smaller than an orange, though sweeter and stronger in flavor. The Essential Oil is cold pressed from the peel of the Tangerine fruit. The color of the oil is, yes, you guessed it, orange. Tangerine Essential Oil has a natural, fresh, sweet aroma, which would remind you of Bitter Orange or Valencia Orange Oil.

The Aromatherapy Place offers a variety of AUROMA Orange type essential oils to suit your preference, including Orange Sweet, Navel, Valencia, Tangerine and Mandarin. Over time, treat yourself to a special sensual experience by trying and comparing the qualities of each. There are slight variations in odor, color, and the levels of constituents within each oil. However, the oils are similar and can be used in place of one another.

NOTE: Citrus Oils in their pure state, may appear cloudy or contain small particles of wax. This occurs naturally in the oil and becomes most apparent when stored in cold areas. It is recommended, however, that these oils be stored in a cold place to ensure longevity and quality. If the clarity is a concern, you may wish to filter until clear, however once cooled again the cloudy appearance may return. The clarity may improve through storing the oil at room temperature, but this will reduce the shelf life and is not recommended.

FACTC. reticulata var tangerine was first cultivated in China. It gained popularity in Japan over 3,000 years ago. When European travelers and traders began trading with the orient and the ports of South East Asia, it quickly spread to the Mediterranean markets. The name is said to have been derived from a port called Tangiers in Morocco, as it was first shipped from Europe to the Americas during the 1800’s.

As AUROMA knows each of the Farmers, they guarantee the authenticity of each oil. Just to be certain, they analyze each oil using the latest state-of-the-art GC-MS technology, which can detect impurities to one part per billion. Yes! AUROMA represents the best there is in Essential Oils. We can supply the following documentation: Certificates of Analysis and Safety Data Sheets (SDS)

To meet the stringent demands of the professional aromatherapist, AUROMA has drafted the following seven requirements that an essential oil needs to meet so it can be used with confidence:

  1. BIO-TYPE: Not only does an oil have to come from a defined botanical species, but from a particular genetic strain.
  2. CHEMO-TYPE: The same botanical species can often produce completely different constituents.
  3. GEO-TYPE: Oils from a particular area are often of superior quality. Examples are Rose Oil Bulgarian or Sandalwood East Indian.
  4. COMPLETE OR WHOLE: The oil should come from a single distillation and should not be rectified.
  5. WILD OR ORGANIC: Where possible, AUROMA always selects the wild growing plants for distillation. When wild types are not available, AUROMA commissions farmers who do not use pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Certified Organic options are available.EX STILL: AUROMA distills small lots of ils in-house and advises farmers on distillation methods.
  6. ANALYYSIS: Oils are tested by AUROMA in Australia with the most advanced state-of- the-art equipment in the world.
